What would economic expert Milton Friedman have said about handing over control of the internet to an international body? One thing's for sure, it would have been a major red flag to him.
"I was talking to a friend of mine the other day who was good friends with Milton Friedman and spent a lot of time learning from him and talking to him and picking his brain," Glenn said Thursday on his radio program.

One question his friend asked Friedman had to do with whether or not he ever felt depressed about the direction the country was going since people didn't really understand totalitarianism. Friedman answered "no."
Why? Because he never felt anyone was trying to burn books. Only when the opposition is trying to be silenced is there real trouble, Friedman advised his friend.
According to Friedman's reasoning, real trouble has arrived.
"I don't know why we're not paying attention to what's happening with the internet. This president is giving away the internet. Now, this is our invention. This is us. This is America. America developed the internet," Glenn said.
Obama has made significant inroads in handing over control of the internet --- without approval from Congress or the American people. More than two years ago, he began the process of transferring control to an international organization called Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers Congress (ICANN), which is accountable to governments like China, Russia and Iran.
"It belongs to us. Now we're giving it away. And who will be in charge of the internet? China and Russia will have major seats at the table. China and Russia? Both places that stifle freedom of speech, both places that kill their reporters if they say something against the regime? Are we out of our ever loving minds?" Glenn said.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is leading the charge to stop the Obama administration, and recently released an ad to inform the American public:
"I don't care to see the full force of a global government. And no matter what I might say about Barack Obama's government or Hillary Clinton's government or Donald Trump's government, it's still better than Russia and China. And I don't want the internet to go to Russia and China, but we are not paying attention to what's happening," Glenn said.
He continued.
"You will not be able to find the truth. If they have control of things, you will not be able to find the truth. Now, what they're saying to you is Well, there are a lot of things that happen on the internet that are bad. Yes, there are. But has your life on the total gotten better or worse because of the internet?" Glenn asked.
