On Thursday’s radio program, Glenn encouraged his listeners to take a look into the history of the Spring of Nations that spread across Europe and Latin America in 1848. Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto planted seeds of dissent all around Europe, but it was first published in German on February 21, 1848 and within days insurrection ensued. Fast-forward to today, and a group called Operation American Spring is marching on Washington D.C. On radio this morning, Glenn warned against the dangers of a “spring” movement.
"I had no idea yesterday when we talked about this that today is the American Spring day, which I think is one of the most irresponsible and dangerous things I have possibly ever heard," Glenn said. "To each his own. I mean if that's the path you want to take, but if you're calling for violence, I am against you and I am not tolerant of that. If you think marching to Washington and saying, 'We're going to, you know, take our government back,' as long as you're not saying violence, you know, to each his own."
Glenn once again asked for the audience to familiarize themselves with the history of the various "springs" because it is time to "to get down on your knees and pray."
“So Spring of Nations was 1848. And that's the year that Marx wrote his manifesto in Germany. And what he had done is he had sown the seeds of discontent all across Europe. And he had said, ‘Overthrow the government,’” Glenn explained. “And the problem is these conditions are always the same. Just like in the Arab Spring. The people have a point. The government is out of control. It is too bloated. It is controlling people. It is bad… Look through history and you will find the same thing repeating itself over and over and over again. And it always ends the same way.”
It is because of this repetition that Glenn is not interested in an American Spring.
“So anybody who wants the American Spring, no thank you. I see how it's worked out oh so well for those people in Egypt. No thank you,” Glenn said. “If you think you're going to beat the United States of America, and if you think that this military won't turn their guns on you, the American citizen, you're wrong again. Look again in history and look what the government did in the Great Depression, before World War II. Look at what they did to all of the veterans who were protesting in Washington for benefits… Don't think that they won't turn your guns on you because they will. We've done it before. We'll do it again.”
Glenn explained that the 9/12 Project was founded in order to offer an alternative solution to combat many of the things the Operation American Spring group is frustrated with. The difference, however, is that the 9/12 Project is rooted in values and principles.
“The only way to win is peaceful noncompliance. I will not conform. I will not comply,” Glenn concluded. “That's why the 9/12 Project started with that. And it wasn't about a political change. It was about change people's hearts. You change people's hearts and then change happens… If you need to take me to jail, you take me to jail, but you won't stop us because right always wins… This is a crazy world we're living in.”
