The Supreme Court announced recently plans to hear arguments on a case regarding the 4th Amendment next month. The 4th Amendment — which requires police or government officials to obtain a warrant from a judge before entering and searching a home — actually has a few exceptions to it, including the 'community caretaking exception.' The exception first originated due to police searching an abandoned car, but its powers may soon be expanded.
