Since the time of this article's publishing, the House held a second vote following Jim Jordan's failure to garner enough support to win the speaker gavel during the first speaker vote. While two GOP reps Doug LaMalfa and Victoria Spartz flipped in favor of Jordan, four NEW Republicans flipped AGAINST Jordan, joining the other 18 House GOP opposing his bid for speaker. That means Jordan is two votes WORSE off than yesterday's vote, with 22 opposing House GOP compared to the 20 who voted against him during the first vote.
The following list has been updated to reflect the changes since the second speaker vote. It's time to pick up the phones and demand that our representatives back Jordan so that Congress can do its JOB.
In today's dismal demonstration of Republican leadership, the House GOP failed to garner enough votes to give House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan as House Speaker. Due to the 20 House Republicans who voted against Jordan, Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jefferies raked in 212 votes, while Jordan received only 200.
It's time to demand Republican representatives to do their JOBS: vote in Jordan as speaker, who has a spectacular record for backing conservative policies, so they can focus on the issues facing the American people.
Jordan needs a minimum of 217 votes to become Speaker of the House. Below you will find the COMPLETE list of ALL 20 House Republicans who voted against Jordan. Now's the time to contact your representative and demand they back Jordan in tomorrow's vote.
