The news cycle has been inundated with the upcoming October 1st deadline to pass next year's government spending budget. As Glenn discussed on his program, both Democrats and Republicans alike weaponize the alarmist language of a "government shutdown" to pass reckless spending on programs at the American taxpayer's expense.
There was an opportunity, however, for Republicans to step up and prevent the government from using your taxpayer dollars to fund woke programs. Texas Rep. Chip Roy, a regular guest on the Glenn Beck Program, proposed an amendment to the 2024 Department of Defense budget that would have prevented the DoD from using your taxpayer dollars to fund their Pride Month celebrations. The amendment proposed the following:
None of the funds appropriated by this act may be used to carry out the observance of Pride Month authorized by the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness for the Cultural Observances and Awareness Events List.
This amendmentcould have passed in the House with unanimous Republican support. Yet 18 Republicans voted WITH Democrats, sending Roy's amendment back to the drawing board. Their votes are antithetical to a foundational tenant of the Republican platform: taking YOUR taxpayer dollars out of woke government programs.
We have reached out to several Congress members for an opportunity to comment. In the meantime, you can find the complete list of the 18 Republicans who voted AGAINST Roy's amendment along with their office's contact information. If you want your representative to keep YOUR money out of woke government programs, it's time to keep them accountable.
