Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is a science-denier.
At least when it comes to her own genealogy.
When you’re a hard-Left progressive, it’s best for your credibility if you can associate with a minority. Even if it’s a bit of a stretch to do so.
For Warren, she decided to go with being part Native American. That’s her narrative and she’s sticking to it. She doesn’t have to prove to anyone that she is part Native American because she knows it in her heart.
Fortunately for Warren, there’s science to the rescue. Thanks to DNA-testing services like the popular 23andMe, all Warren has to do is spit in a tube, mail it off and presto --- she can shut down all the critics who have dared to question her narrative.
So, she’s going to inject some facts about her Native American heritage into this conversation that she started, right?
Not exactly.
As Warren made the rounds on the Sunday morning news shows, she was asked about the possibility of clearing up the issue over her Native American heritage through a DNA test, but she said she didn’t need to stoop to that.
“I know who I am and never used it for anything,” she said.
She went on to tell her own version of West Side Story, how her white father fell madly in love with her part-Native American mother, and they had to elope because her father’s bigoted family was bitterly opposed to their marriage.
In a speech to the National Congress of American Indians last month, Warren said, “Every time someone brings up my story, I’m going to use it to lift up the story of your families and your communities.”
Almost sounds like someone who might be running for president.
Classic politician pivot. Almost sounds like someone who might be running for president. But Warren denied that over and over yesterday.
With Hillary Clinton out of the way, the benefit of a year of #MeToo and the rabid anti-Trump forces simmering on the Left, Warren has caught the whiff of history. She’s getting giddy at the prospect of becoming the first female president in US history.
That’s why she kicked off her 2020 campaign yesterday by going on three different Sunday news shows to say she’s definitely not running for president.
