The CEO and founder of Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.), Tim Ballard, joined Glenn in the studio today to walk us through his recent undercover operation to take down one of the most notorious ringleaders of child sex trafficking and slavery in Haiti.

Wait…what?!

Tim’s astonishing story began last year on Super Bowl Sunday when the O.U.R. team received devastating news: the “kingpin” sex-trafficker that the operation had successfully put behind bars had managed to bribe her way out of Haiti’s corrupt legal system just days after her arrest.

Tim and the O.U.R. team enlisted the help of the Haitian media, Rep. Mia Love and, ultimately, the president of Haiti, Jovenel Moïse. Over the next several months, six of the judges who had accepted bribes were removed from the bench and Moïse pledged to put an end to child slavery and sex trafficking in his country. The O.U.R. team planned a second round of sting operations which took place last week … on the very day that President Donald Trump made his now-renowned  ‘sh*thole’ comment about Haiti.

How’d that go?

“It was the most awkward moment of any operation I’ve ever been on, and I’ve been on a lot over my 16-year career,” said Tim of the moment when the news of Trump’s transgression hit the headlines. “The attorney general of the country is sitting across the table from me, the chief of police is sitting next to him … and we literally have a recon team out … we’re all geared up ready to go … and there’s television teams all around … and, boom, I see this above their heads…. In this moment, and this is the message coming from America to Haiti.”

Uh oh, so what happened next?

The sting operation went forward as planned, despite Trump’s remarks, and the heinous “kingpin” of Haiti was brought to justice. “It’s like a movie. It was the craziest thing,” Tim said describing the operation as it went down. “She was sucking on a sucker, calmly, and [she said] ‘I’m protected by evil, you can’t touch me.’”
