GLENN: Here's what Sean Spicer said at the press conference yesterday.
SEAN: We didn't use chemical weapons in World War II. You know, you had a -- someone as despicable as Hitler who didn't even sink to using chemical weapons.
STU: Oh, no. Oh, no.
GLENN: All right. Here's a rule Sean Spicer should just live with, and that is, don't mention Hitler ever.
STU: Wouldn't people say the same thing about you, Mr. Beck?
JEFFY: And have.
GLENN: Yes, but I'm not Press Secretary for the president of the United States. Just don't use the word "Hitler," ever again. "Nazi," you might to throw that one out. "Holocaust," might want to throw that one out.
STU: You wouldn't even be able to talk with these rules.
GLENN: No, I know.
But, again, I'm not in the White House. Look, here's the thing, Sean Spicer said, didn't use chemical weapons. Well, yeah, he did.
STU: Was there a notable way he used them? I don't remember anything --
GLENN: Well, I'm trying to remember -- oh, yeah, the Holocaust.
STU: Oh, yeah, I've heard that word.
GLENN: Yeah, the showers.
STU: You're talking about the Holocaust centers?
GLENN: No. I'm calling it the concentration camps, but that's exactly -- we'll get into that here in a second. So he says this. And the media went from zero to Holocaust denier in about half a second. He is not denying the Holocaust. The Anne Frank Center tweeted @PresidentTrump in all caps: Fire Sean Spicer now for engaging in Holocaust denial.
That happened, I believe, before the press conference was over.
PAT: Come on.
GLENN: Towards the end of the press briefing, Spicer was asked to clarify his comment.
He made things even worse, if that was possible. He said: I understand your point. Thank you. What I mean is, Hitler brought them -- meaning the Jews, into the Holocaust Center. And I understand that.
Oh, jeez. Holocaust Center. I mean --
PAT: Brought them into the Holocaust Center? Oh, man.
GLENN: Every teacher -- every history teacher of Sean Spicer immediately headed to their local courthouse to change their name.
(chuckling)
Like I cannot -- Holocaust Center. Where did that come from?
Here's the problem: Sean Spicer -- Sean Spicer needs a PR person himself. He needs a press relation spokesperson for himself that can just come out and say this: Ladies and gentlemen, we're just going to keep it real short today. I talked to Sean Spicer. And, look, I just have to tell you this. Dumb as a box of rocks sometimes. I mean, he just says things that that's not what he meant. He just said whatever came to the top of his head. But let's remember, again, it's Sean Spicer. He's not that bright. Let's just move on. He wasn't denying the Holocaust. Thank you.
That's what he should say. But that's -- Sean Spicer wouldn't have somebody say that because that's what he should be saying about Donald Trump.
Look, guys, come on. We all know what's going on here. It's Donald Trump. We know he says things that, you know, he was saying about the -- you know, saying about the Muslim ban. Come on. You all know he didn't even read the damn thing. He just said, look, I want to keep my promise to the American people about the Muslims and the borders. And he worked something up. And they did. And he heard the word "ban," maybe from himself. And he just got up and said it was a ban. It's not a ban. You know it's not a ban. He didn't even read it. Let's move on.
That's what he should be doing. But ego, of course, will not let them do it. But that's honestly what people should do. Somebody should be saying, "Look, that's not what he meant. He's not thinking this through." And on this particular case, you are the president of the United States. You are the spokesperson for the president of the United States. But the president of the United States is Donald Trump. Your press secretary is Sean Spicer. What, are you expecting things to go well?
Stop it. Stop it.
