What happens when you're in the mood for a little Christmas and turn on the lights early? Nothing in most neighborhoods. In Glenn's, you get a friendly notice from the HOA.
"We got a notice from our community: Turn off the Christmas lights until Thanksgiving," Glenn said Tuesday on his radio program.
Evidently, his HOA maintains a strict code on decorative embellishments.
"I can't put a flag up at my house, and that drives me crazy," Glenn said. "Makes me want to buy the property behind my house, just outside of the fence, and put in the largest flag known to mankind."

That's the one thing you can say about Texans. They like their flags --- and early Christmas lights.
Read below or watch the clip for answers to these questions:
• Who's in the Christmas mood?
• How big do Texans like their flags?
• Is Glenn buying a car dealership?
Below is a rush transcript of this segment, it might contain errors:
GLENN: Are you -- is anybody in the Christmas mood?
JEFFY: I'm trying.
PAT: Yeah. I'm getting there.
GLENN: Put up the Christmas tree.
JEFFY: Oh, my wife has the house Christmased out.
GLENN: Yeah, we do too. We do too. We put up the Christmas tree. We got a notice from our community: Turn off the Christmas lights until Thanksgiving.
PAT: What!
JEFFY: What!
PAT: What!
GLENN: Yeah. Yeah.
PAT: You've got to be kidding me.
GLENN: No. No, they were very serious about it.
PAT: And, of course, with an HOA, you can't argue -- is that a new rule though? If that's a new rule, that's a different thing.
JEFFY: Those aren't Christmas lights. Those are my yard lights.
GLENN: No, I don't think that's a rule. There were several people. We were one of them. There were several people that put their lights up way early.
PAT: So?
GLENN: I mean, we put our lights up -- we put our lights up --
JEFFY: They're my yard lights. Shut up. This is America.
PAT: Shouldn't I be able to have my lights up in May? Well, if it's in their covenant that you agree to when you come into the neighborhood.
GLENN: Yeah. Oh, I'm sure there is. Like, I can't put a flag up at my house, and that drives me crazy.
PAT: Yeah, that's nuts. That is nuts.
GLENN: Yeah. Makes me want to buy the property behind my house, just outside of the fence, and put in the largest flag known to mankind.
JEFFY: But that would be --
GLENN: But that would be crazy.
JEFFY: Right.
GLENN: That would be almost wasteful to do that.
PAT: But fun. Really, really fun.
GLENN: But fun.
JEFFY: Are we going to have --
GLENN: That property is for sale.
JEFFY: Are we going to have a get-together when we put up the flagpole?
GLENN: Well, if we ever do do that, you know, just to -- because it would -- if I put a flagpole -- if I bought that property and put a flagpole there --
JEFFY: That would be so great.
GLENN: -- it would be seen throughout because it's on a high point of the complex or whatever it's called.
PAT: Yeah, it would be seen for a long way.
GLENN: It would be like a car dealership on the golf course.
JEFFY: Oh, we got to have a bigger one than that.
GLENN: A bigger one than the car dealership?
JEFFY: Yeah, we got to have like those monument flags, man.
GLENN: I don't know if you've been to Texas, but that's what all the car dealerships have. That's the one thing about Texas is they like their flags.
PAT: Oh, definitely.
JEFFY: Yes, yes.
GLENN: They like their flags.
PAT: Definitely.
