Grover Norquist joined Glenn for an in depth interview Thursday to respond to the allegations that he has acted as an agent of influence on behalf of convicted terrorists and members of the Muslim Brotherhood. Glenn dedicated his Wednesday show to the allegations against Norquist and in the interest of fairness wanted to give him the opportunity to respond directly to TheBlaze audience.
During the interview, Glenn asked Norquist to respond to the fact that Abdul Rahman al-Amoudi, who was sentenced to 23 years "on financial and conspiracy charges for being a senior financier for Al Qaeda", gave two checks to the Islamic Institute, a group founded by Grover Norquist in 1998.
"You're so unlucky," Glenn said. "I don't have any terrorists that stop by my offices or I take checks from."
Glenn then showed the checks from al-Amoudi made out to the Islamic Institute on the screen.
"One was a loan. One was a gift. Did you pay [al-Amoudi] back?" Glenn asked.
"I believe so. It was Khaled [co-founder of the Islamic Institute] who organized it, but if it was a loan it was paid back," Grover said.
"That's right. I forgot that you weren't really involved. But I don't have my friends who run things for me take checks from terrorists and I don't have other terrorists come by to drop off literature. It doesn't happen to most people. But I'm not you," Glenn said.
"Glenn, you know, because you look at this, that when al-Amoudi supported the Institute he was in good order with all the jewish groups, with Bush, with the Clinton White House, the Defense Department, and the State Department. And later when he wasn't, then he went to jail. As he should," Grover said.
