Jimmy Kimmel often conducts man on the street interviews just outside his studios in L.A. and often they are depressing. Last night, however, could be the most depressing of all. How many people on the street know who Joe Biden is?
Watch the horrifying results:
These aren't immigrants who just came to this country, but people who have lived here for the entire life who have no idea who Joe Biden is.
After watching the segment, Stu pointed out there is a lot of value in calling out this kind of absurdity and stupidity. Many Americans who tune into the radio show know what is happening in the world and that the answers to the country's problems seem like common sense - but many people are so tuned out that they have no clue who Joe Biden is!
"To the 2% of the audience that every Friday gets all riled up about how mean and evil we are for doing More On Trivia; never say that about anyone else -- this is essentially the same bit. Is there not value to that? Is there not value to that? I actually get something out of that. It's funny, sure, but I get something out of that," Stu said.
"I get lost in this world, where we come here and talk to 20 hour, 25 hours a week on this network..we sit here and talk to people who know what's going on in the world and we don't understand why changes that seem obvious happen. They don't happen because half the population or are like these people," he said.
Glenn said this was a perfect example of why conservatives need to focus more on the culture. Late night talk show hosts like Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Jon Stewart a a cultural force, but very few conservatives and libertarians are in that space.
"I got news for you. We already have the better idea. We have the idea that's proven to work over and over again. They have the old communism idea. That doesn't work. Socialist idea, it doesn't work. It leads to misery," Glenn said.
"Our ideas are better. But we have abandoned half those ideas. The first half of those ideas - and those are ethics, morals - because nobody's teaching that anymore, no one's listening to that, and the culture is dragging us down into the abyss, where nothing matters. It doesn't matter what you do. 'Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow you die.' We are not going to win on this. We have to change the approach," Glenn added.
