Ted Cruz's defeat on Tuesday may have pulled the plug for some in the #NeverTrump movement, but not for Brad Thor. The New York Times best-selling author joined The Glenn Beck Program on Wednesday to provide some clarification on the meaning of the word "never."
"I was reading a story in the Huffington Post today, where they said the #NeverTrump people have to decide what #NeverTrump means. So we thought you would be the guy to answer that," Glenn said.
This question was clearly right up Thor's ally.
Listen to this segment from The Glenn Beck Program:
"Far be it from me as an author to lay out the meaning of words, but perhaps the hashtag should be #NeverEverTrump," Thor said. "I mean, it can't be more clear than that. Never --- you know, this is coming from the left. I thought ‘no' meant ‘no' to the left. Does ‘never' not mean 'never'"?
Glenn pointed out many people are arguing a vote against Trump is a vote for Hillary.
"Right --- and no to Hitler was yes to Stalin. So I got that, I got that," Thor replied. "I think you can be anti-Hillary and anti-Trump. You can be pro-liberty, pro-Constitution."
With that said, the thriller-writer admitted there actually was one way Trump could earn his vote --- but don't hold your breath --- it was a big ask.
"There's only one way that I will move out of the #NeverTrump camp," Thor said. "That only one way is that if there's the greatest check put on Donald Trump's power possible --- and that would be to put Ted Cruz into Scalia's seat at the Supreme Court."
Co-host Stu Burguiere didn't see that happening.
"He's going to put in someone that he can make --- he can have them rule and make the Supreme Court great again. And whatever that means is, it means agreeing with Donald Trump," Stu said.
As anti-Trump as Thor is, he made an impassioned plea to all those listening to pray for Trump, his family and those protecting them.
"I want to right now ask everyone who is listening to pray for the men and women of the Secret Service who are charged with protecting Donald Trump and his family. I think we will see unprecedented assassination attempts on Donald Trump," Thor said.
"I think the left will so vilify and demonize him with the media --- I'm betting that they are going to be attempts on his life. I pray to God that it doesn't happen, but the way this country is right now, I don't know how it doesn't happen."
Glenn has been observing the Secret Service for most of the Obama administration's term, so this fear wasn't surprising.
"I hope not. But quite honestly, I don't trust the Secret Service," Glenn said. "They're so sloppy. There's got to be Secret Service agents that are like, ‘Guys, we are a mess right now. We've got to fix this before something happens.'"
If there is any good news in this insane election cycle, it's that there has been a separation of who's really in it for the right reasons.
"We've now seen who really stands with liberty, who is a constitutionalist and who is in this just for their own," Thor said. "I'm sure that like me, you could have held onto a lot more customers, a lot more listeners. I could have held onto a lot more readers if I'd just played it right down the middle or thrown my arms around Trump."
