We're finally here — where the rubber meets the road. The 2016 election will prove critical to the future of America. Will the great American experiment continue or will the fundamental transformation of America be complete?
Glenn outlined the four choices he believes American voters will face this November on his TV program Wednesday, and the differences are stark and compelling.
Here are the four choices and which candidates represent them:
1. Socialism — Bernie Sanders
2. Authoritarian — Donald Trump
3. Constitutional — Ted Cruz
4. Status Quo — Hillary Clinton, Jeb Bush, John Kasich, Marco Rubio
The problems identified by each are similar — the current system isn't working, the system is rigged for the elite and political classes. However, the solutions are vastly different.
Maintaining the status quo just keeps us on the same track of corruption and crony capitalism. The other three will radically change America — one back to our Founding Principles and the other two to something no longer recognizable as America.
"Socialism is dangerous because if we elect a socialist, we do not recover from that," Glenn said Thursday on his radio show. "And at best, we become Denmark or Sweden or something like that. At best, we become something that is not constitutional and not who we are. And the American experiment is officially over if we elect Bernie Sanders."
Glenn said he believes we'd get an even worse outcome with an authoritarian candidate like Donald Trump.
"If you [elect] an authoritarian, if you put that attitude in for four years, you do not recover the civility, what little civility we have left," Glenn said. "The American experiment is over, and a strongman is in. And what's worse, this is exactly what Karl Marx predicted."
How does Glenn confidently predict outcomes such as these?
"I know," Glenn said, "because I read history."
