Yes, Obama grew up with Marxist parents and grandparents, his mentor was a communist, he hung out with the Marxist professors, his pastor was Marxist, he appointed Marxists -- and now his new slogan happens to mirror a famous Marxist slogan. But the media is once again defending their man.
Andrew Kirell at Mediaite has a new op-ed asks "Does President Obama’s New ‘Forward’ Slogan Prove He’s A Marxist?". His answer? "Nope".
Kirell writes:
No serious person could actually think President Obama is an avowed Marxist with desires similar to communist China. If anything, I’d call Obama a “corporatist,” for many of his policies (like previous presidents) benefit large companies and well-connected political groups at the expense of everyone else. But communist/Marxist/Maoist/fascist he is not.
Glenn clearly did not agree.
"As the Washington Times wrote, it does have a long and rich association with European Marxism," Pat argued.
But is that in itself proof? No. As Glenn said, he wouldn't necessarily think that anyone who used that slogan would be a Marxist. However, when looking at the slogan next to all the other evidence of Obama's Marxist background it seems to be just another piece to a bigger puzzle.
"If Mitt Romney had a slogan called forward, it wouldn't mean anything. You know, we never thought lean forward was a Marxist slogan, never, because MSNBC,while they've got some real problems and progressive and they're very left, they don't have a long history, their whole life of being surrounded by communists and Marxists," Glenn said.
"You've got a communist mom and a communist dad and a communist mentor and communist grandparents and then you go to school and you hang out with communists and then you become President and you appoint communists all-around you," Glenn said. "I mean this sincerely. It would be almost impossible for Barack Obama to not be a Marxist."
If Obama, who grew up surrounded by people who admired Marxism, really didn't believe it, then Glenn believes that he would be vocally anti-Marxism. Glenn compared it to ex-smokers, who are usually the most vocal about the dangers of smoking and don't like to be around people who are smoking.
"He would be teaching them what's wrong with their philosophy. Instead, he's encouraging them," Glenn said.
The radio crew tore apart Kirell's article, which largely ignores many of the policies that Obama has advocated throughout his career like universal healthcare. Even worse, he cites Think Progress to support his argument - a hack left-wing group that has about as much credibility as Media Matters.
"Andrew Kirell - you're a complete and total moron," Glenn said after reading the column.
